Google Chrome Channels (Chromium Based)
The links below set your computer up for a specific Google Chrome "Channel" and once you install a channel you will automatically receive Chrome updates for the channel you joined as soon as they are released. In addition to the stable, beta and developer channels there is also a "Canary" channel. The profile installer version of the canary channel safely offers bleeding-edge nightly builds (you will get updates almost every day). The nice part about the canary channel (profile installer) is that it can be installed along side any of the other channels. In other words, you could run stable and canary, beta and canary or developer and canary. Canary (profile installer) uses its own profile folders so you don’t risk anything by using it. I am currently in the developer and canary channels and I am using Chrome browser sync (settings and data sync) without any issues. You can change channels (stable/beta/developer) any time but your browser won’t automatically update until the browser version of the channel you join releases a higher version than the channel you left. Visit this page for more information about Google Chrome Channels to help decide which channel you would like to try.

The links below were updated on 6/19/12 to offer four options for each channel. The System Installers install under Program Files (system-wide) which makes Google Chrome available to all users on the computer, even users that are added later. The Profile Installers install Google Chrome under the current user account only and no other users on the system will be able to use Google Chrome unless they install it manually. The Full installers are standalone versions of the installers which don’t require an internet connection for the installation process. The Full installers are recommended for USB drives, network installations and deployment and saves you from having to wait for the download each time. The Mini installers (which have been listed on this page for about a year now) are tiny in size… but that’s only because each time you run the EXE it has to connect to the internet to download the entire package for the channel you are installing. The Mini installers are fine for home users and general use… but if you want the full EXE for later use or to share with others, use the Full installers.

FWIW & IMO: Google should make the system-wide installers the default because it is a huge pain in the ass to try to keep all of the user accounts on one system current and it only gets worse on a domain — not to mention each user’s profile folder grows by hundreds of MB because each profile has its own Chrome install.
